This past monday (the 1st of March) was my ninth SLS lesson with voice coach Emil Svensson.

This lesson was probably one of the most fun, as now it's not all about finding the mix or questioning my capacity for getting into the mix; now it's about different aspects of the mix.
As mentioned, my discovery of mix was a "top down" approach (starting in head voice). Listening to my favorite artists it became obvious that my mix wasn't "complete". A "chestiness" or sense of my own speaking voice was missing. Emil of course never misses a beat, so this lesson was all about how to get that stuff working.
The Speech Level aspect of all of this is really starting to click, because that's how to go about getting into a fuller mix; you just talk, no matter the pitch of the note you're going for. This is still hard for me, but I am starting to understand how to go about it. It's really rewarding in the sense that the better I get at it, the easier and less straining it is to sing this way.
