The Whiskey Sessions started when three old (by this point) musicians met to get reacquianted and drink som whiskey. The whole think quickly turned into a recurring even about booze, music, and on-the-spot creativity. We get together, pop the cork, and get cracking on writing a song. The goal is to compose, write lyrics, perform and record an entire song in a single evening, preferably before the neighbors start banging on the wall or the audio interface burns up. We often mix and master when we've had a chance to sober up, but we are proud to challenge ourselves to achieve all of this in a short period of time. And it's a lot of fun too...... Their kids (Oliver 7yo and Matilda 3,5yo) watched the Swedish Song Contest upstairs, but Matilda was a little to curious and ended up dancing to the music that we made. You can even hear her on the track imitating our lysics with a little "love ya". We started with a number of different projects, but in the end we did a kind of improv combined with handy feature of Ableton Live that johno had seen an inspirational clip about. He sliced up a random vocal take and created an instrument from that, which can be heard in the solo. In post we got a clear disco-funk vibe going. Mad had to get out her whistle-register, Robban laid down some suggestive whispering, Jessica made food and cheered us on, johno was the engineer and made sure we stayed in tune, while Johan mostly sat around and chillaxed... A great place for sessions, more to follow!!
